Domestic Rooftop Solar (DRS) Program

Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) has undertaken the Domestic Rooftop Solar (DRS) Program to promote the use of rooftop solar energy in Bangladesh. The program aims to expand access to clean and affordable electricity by encouraging households and other customer establishments to install grid-connected rooftop solar systems. Solar systems ranging from 1 kWp to 80 kWp may be installed, with or without battery storage, depending on customer requirements.
Under the program, IDCOL provides refinancing support to enlisted organizations to facilitate the sale and installation of rooftop solar systems on a cash or credit basis. Participating organizations are responsible for customer outreach, system installation, net metering arrangements, and after-sales services, while IDCOL oversees the program and monitors its implementation.
Through this initiative, IDCOL aims to increase the use of renewable energy, reduce dependence on conventional electricity sources, and support Bangladesh’s transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
